Trumans Beach Orient-East Marion Park District

About
More than just Trumans Beach
Nearly sixty years ago, the Stephenson family teamed up with the residents of Orient, East Marion, the Town of Southold, and the State of New York, to preserve and protect Trumans Beach and the surrounding areas. Today the OEMPD is comprised of fifty acres spread across four parcels of land. While our main recreation area remains Trumans Beach, we also preserve and protect an expansive bayside beach, near-shore area, and salt marsh. These preserved park lands are home to a number of protected and endangered flora and fauna. Our park land is a habitat for Osprey, Egrets, Blue and Green Heron, Pipping Plovers, Diamond-Backed Terrapin, and a host of other protected and endangered species. This year we embarked on an ambitious program to remove invasive plant species such as Mug Wort, Mile-A-Minute, and Tree of Heaven among others. This will allow native plant species to thrive while helping native wildlife both year-round and migratory birds. If you wish to help us with beach-cleanups or removal of invasives please contact us at: info@orienteastmarionparks.gov
